1. Scope of Services
We offer general mechanical services including diagnostics, repairs, engine replacements, electrical work, suspension, brakes, roadworthy certificates (RWC), and certificates of inspection (COI). All work is delivered on a case-by-case basis and is subject to the terms below.
2. Quotes, Estimates & Bookings
- Quotes are indicative only and may change if additional faults are found.
- Verbal authorisation is accepted for minor work; significant work requires written or verbal approval.
- A deposit may be required for large or special-order jobs.
- We reserve the right to decline any job at our discretion.
3. Customer-Supplied Parts – No Warranty
- No warranty is provided on customer-supplied parts (new, used, OEM, or aftermarket).
- Labour associated with these parts is not covered.
- We are not liable for any damage caused by or arising from such components.
- We reserve the right to refuse installation of unsafe or inappropriate parts.
4. Payment Terms
- Payment is due in full at job completion and before vehicle release unless on an approved account.
- Accepted methods: cash, Visa, Mastercard, EFTPOS.
- If payment is not received:
- Daily storage charges apply (see Section 6).
- We may retain the vehicle under mechanic’s lien rights.
- All legal, recovery, and administrative costs are recoverable and may be added to the invoice.
Retention of Title: Ownership of all parts, components, and engines supplied by DDEC Australia remains with us until full payment is received. We may reclaim any unpaid goods without notice.
PPSA Registration: DDEC Australia may register a security interest under the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth) in any goods supplied but not yet paid for. Customers agree to assist with this registration if required.
5. Vehicle Storage & Risk
- Vehicles are parked outdoors at the customer’s risk.
- DDEC Australia is not liable for theft, fire, storm, flood, or other damage.
- Customers must maintain their own insurance while the vehicle is on our premises.
6. Storage Fees & Collection
- Vehicles must be collected within 7 days of completion notification.
- After 7 days, a $50 per day storage fee (incl. GST) applies.
- Vehicles will not be released until full payment, including storage and recovery costs, is received.
7. Uncollected Goods & Abandonment
- Vehicles left uncollected for over 45 days may be disposed of under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act 2006 (Qld).
- Formal notice will be issued before disposal.
- Proceeds may be used to offset any unpaid amounts.
- After 60 days, vehicles may be deemed abandoned and disposed of without further notice.
8. Warranties and Consumer Law
- Warranty applies only to parts and labour supplied and installed by us.
- This is a return-to-base warranty: the vehicle must be returned to our workshop for claims.
- These terms do not exclude your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
9. Limitation of Liability
- DDEC Australia is not liable for:
- Loss of business, towing, accommodation or downtime.
- Failures caused by customer-supplied parts.
- Damage due to pre-existing faults or poor maintenance.
- Loss of electronic data, calibration, or software settings during diagnostics or repair.
- Liability is limited to the value of services and parts supplied.
10. Governing Law & Enforcement
- These terms are governed by Queensland law.
- All recovery expenses, legal costs, admin fees, and collection charges are recoverable from the customer and may be added to unpaid invoices.
Engine Rebuild Services – Terms and Conditions

1. Warranty Coverage
- 12-month or 100,000 km warranty (whichever comes first) for rebuilt Detroit Diesel truck engines.
- Applies only to workmanship and DDEC-supplied parts.
- Not valid outside of Australia.
2. Scope of Coverage
- Covers only the bare engine assembly rebuilt by DDEC Australia.
- Excludes turbochargers, injectors, alternators, hoses, filters, and maintenance parts.
- Warranty is non-transferable unless agreed in writing.
3. Warranty Exclusions
- Warranty is void if:
- Customer-supplied engines or parts are used.
- Engine is overheated, overloaded, raced, or neglected.
- Installation or repairs are not performed by us or approved professionals.
- Failure is caused by accident, flood, fire, or other external events.
- The engine is opened, tampered with, or inspected by unauthorised workshops.
4. Making a Warranty Claim
- Stop using the engine and contact us immediately.
- The engine or vehicle must be returned to our workshop at the customer’s expense (unless otherwise required by law).
- Continued use may void the warranty.
5. Payment Terms
- 50% deposit required before work starts.
- Final 50% due upon completion, prior to release.
- If unpaid:
- Storage and interest charges may apply.
- Vehicle or engine may be retained under mechanic’s lien rights.
- After 30 days, disposal may occur under the Uncollected Goods Act.
- All legal, recovery, and administrative costs are recoverable from the customer.
Retention of Title and PPSA: Ownership of engines and components remains with DDEC Australia until full payment is received. A PPSA security interest may be registered, and the customer agrees to assist where needed.
6. Limitation of Liability
- DDEC Australia is not liable for:
- Loss of income or business.
- Hire car, towing, or accommodation costs.
- Damage to other components caused by the engine failure.
- Liability is limited to the repair or replacement of affected parts or services.
7. Dispute Resolution
- We aim to resolve issues quickly and fairly.
- If unresolved:
- Mediation or arbitration may be used (customer bears cost unless ruled otherwise).
- Legal action may be taken in Queensland courts.
8. Governing Law & Final Agreement
- These terms are governed by Queensland law.
- By engaging us for engine rebuilds, the customer agrees to these terms in full.
- This document represents the entire agreement unless otherwise agreed in writing.
